It is October 2002, and my computer is 2 months old.

I am enjoying Windows XP. It was released just last year, and I am happy that the computer came with a licensed copy. I cannot use the gray Windows 98 anymore.

The new interface Microsoft Luna is colourful and modern with its blue and green color scheme. The Start menu and taskbar are sleeker, and the whole system just feels more user-friendly. My friends and I love customizing our desktops with the new themes and wallpapers that come with XP.

The nicest things about Windows XP is how much faster and more stable it is compared to Windows 98 or ME. My configuration of 40 GB HDD and 128 MB DDR RAM allows opening multiple software at the same time. I can work on my school slideshow in Powerpoint and play musinc in Winamp at the same time.

Windows XP also introduces some new security features. There's a built-in firewall to protect against internet threats, and the ability to create separate user accounts is great for families sharing a computer. Each person can have their own personalized settings and private files.

A lot of the computer shops told me to buy with computer with Windows 98, and said that Windows XP will have compatibility issues with many games, but I can play Roadrash, Virtual Cop 2, Warcraft 3, and Diablo very nicely. Only make sure to install the latest VGA drivers from the CDs in Chip and Digit magazines.
